Bio.

Sivaan Walker is an artist and PhD student studying at the University of New South Wales, School of Arts and Media. Her research is titled "Spiritual Ethico-Aesthetics: An investigation into the intersection of female artistic practices, spirituality and materialisms". This project aims to extend aesthetic theory by incorporating the perspective of female artists whose mystic approaches offer knowledge of justice through framing harmony and interconnection as essential.

Sivaan's artistic practice draws on philosophy and aesthetic theory to meditate on interpretation and meaning. Artworks like Two Slapped Mosquitoes suggests that peace is a condition of war, is that narrative true? is sacrifice necessary? And, artworks like Being Nothing explore the materiality of dust as a way to think about the density of absence, and the mystery of navigating accumulation when violence and destabilisation strikes, and dust is a reminder that the remnants of human bodies is always active and nestled into the structures that appear to negate presence through erasure.

Sivaan has used sculpture, 3D printing, and drawing to explore these notions of violence and becoming through the materiality of dust and remnants. Her works in progress are now focusing on drawing critical theory as a way to generate knowledge. See @sivaans on Instagram for progress in this sketching and drawing space to come.

R.A.D.S. - Sivaan is part of an artist collective who seek to produce group shows affirming the beauty of friendship, thought, and play.
